No vaccines are mandatory but the CDC recommends vaccinations for influenza, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B, an updated tetanus or tdap, a covid vaccine, and a typhoid vaccine. You do not need to bring medicine to prevent malaria but we suggest bringing mosquito repellent wipes. Hep A and Hep B vaccines are a series and require more than one shot. It is best to contact your local health department to get started on those as they are spaced apart.


  1. 5 changes of clothes that dry quickly and one thin but long sleeved shirt. Denim is not a good idea.
  2. Sunscreen
  3. Sandals that slip on and off easily as we will take our shoes off several times a day before entering buildings or homes.
  4. Personal hygiene items.
  5. Your passport and at least one color copy of your passport
  6. Your medications and copies of prescriptions- we will have a well stocked first aid kit and basic medications like fever reducers and anti diarrheals
  7. It is not likely that you will need a towel.
  8. We suggest you pack light and also bring a backpack for overnight trips. We suggest that in your carry on that you bring an extra change of clothes and your medications just in case your luggage gets lost.
  9. Emergency contact information and your medical provider's contact information.
