We will drive to the Bridge Over the River Kwai and visit a museum there that tells the story of our POWs and how the bridge was used by the Japanese to move supplies to their troops. We will stay at the Bamboo House. We will also go to a wonderfully presented museum depicting the struggles of the POWS and the asian people that built the railway and the bridge over the river Kwai.
Drive from Kanchanaburi to Chumphon. You will be staying at Thung Wua Len beach and have your choice of deliciously prepared seafood. If time permits and our energy holds up, there is a night market we can visit for snacks and souvenirs.
SNORKELING! You will see the most spectacular array of colors in the sea life with clown fish, anenomes, coral and much more. We will have another option for people that do not want to go snorkeling.
We will drive to Lamae which is a district in Chumphon. We will stop along the way at different farms and experience the various agriculture in Chumphon. We have an orphanage/foster home (the name is Baan Eurphon and they are on facebook) that we go to while there. We usually do a short project like plant the garden or just help hold babies or play with the older kids. For those that do not want to do this, we will plan an alternate activity which will include touring a local farm.
We will have an opportunity to go and see a durian farm that is run by the orphanage. It is in a village a little over an hour from Lamae. There is a river to cool off in there and some of the kids from the orphanage will come with us. We can sleep there on mats and cook outdoors or we can go and see it, deliver some formula and supplies to the headman of the poor village where the farm is located and either spend the night with them or return to our accommodations in Lamae. We will drive from Lamae to Koh Sok National Park. There we will go to an elephant sanctuary and tour the national park.
